The 33rd edition of the International Competition for Pianists and Opera Singers Francesco Paolo Neglia was a success for the participants and the public, the four days of the competition were punctuated by music and singing events performed by professionals and aspiring professionals, evaluated by a jury of 'excellence.

The photo gallery brings together the most exciting moments experienced by all those who have revolved around and participated in the realization of this edition.

The Competition



The Neglia Prize was established in 1962 and is one of the jewels of the city of Enna: it attained international levels and attracted pianists and singers of all nationalities.

1962

The Competition was born in 1962 in order to honour one of the most illustrious citizens of Enna, who played an important role in the history of Italian music.

1998

The 32nd and last edition of 1998 was chaired by Gioacchino Gitto, a famous artistic director. The members of the Jury were very renowned Italian and foreign musicians.

The number of participants has changed from year to year; one of the most successful editions was the 26th, attended by 121 singers and 24 pianists from all over the world.
All editions were very successful being a great attraction for valid artists who seeked success in the world of opera and piano music; the Competition has also promoted cultural and touristic exchanges with other nations, with great benefit to the city of Enna, which could be known and appreciated in many foreign countries.

Francesco Paolo Neglia
Francesco Paolo Neglia1874 - 1932
Born in Castrogiovanni (today Enna) on May 22- 1874, he emigrated to Hamburg in Germany in 1901, where he was appreciated and was appointed conductor of the Musikfreunde orchestra. In Hamburg he also founded the Neglia Conservatorium, which had more than 500 students.
